Say you're starting a new topic, like opinion writing. You come across three perfect articles that you'd like to add to Subtext and share with students. Maybe you're going to have them select their favorite and use text evidence to explain their thinking. You wish you could put all of the articles together into one book and not have your students add three distinct "booklets" to your shelf. Well, there's a way you can do it; enter Readlist.
I learned about this site from an amazing educator, Kristin Thomsen (@iEngagedTeacher). Readlist allows you to "bundle" webpages and compile them into an eBook. Once you have the eBook, you open it into Subtext and all of your articles are within its pages.

Here's how you do it:
1) From the Readlist site click, "Make a Readlist" in the upper right corner. With an account, you can save your sites, but I don't use that feature.
2) Then you select, copy, and paste the individual webpages of the articles you'd like to use. Don't forget to click the "add" button. It's very easy to move the order of them as well. (If the webpage doesn't convert, it may be a .pdf).
3) Make sure you name your "book" of articles and put a little information before you convert it. The title becomes the cover and the description ends up being the second page to the eBook in Subtext.
4) Then, you need to decide how to best export it and get it to your Subtext account. I usually use the "email" or "Send to iPhone/iPad" selection and then actually open it on my iPad. I simply touch the eBook icon and "Open in Subtext" (You could also save it through Dropbox and then keep the originals all together in a folder).
5) Then, viola, you have it on your shelf in Subtext where you can tag it, add discussion points, and share it with your groups.
